12th, 9th & 9th impressions of the 1st edition. This is the 1962 box set, sold as such, the last before the 1963 deluxe set with Pauline Baynes art. Highly collectible for those completing a collection of all the boxed sets. The box is very much the worse for war, complete, but with a waterstain leading up the side of box. The books however make up for it. All three jackets have sunning to the spines the only flaw, none are clipped. FotR & TT book and jacket hardly seem read, if at all. RoTK near fine jacket has some light marks on the cover with very light fading to the lower cover edge with slight bleeding onto the back of the jacket. Likely from the same damp that stain the box. Hardly noticable unless pointed out. No marks to books, bindings tight and square, gilt bright as-new. I suspect the set was bought and kept never having been read. Truly unique.
