Collecting Wilbur Smith books is becoming as popular as reading them. A string of 32 published books lends itself to collecting!   For more information and a list of all his books visit his official website- http://www.wilbursmithbooks.com

While many people collect later reprints and international editions, I deal mostly in UK first editions, signed and unsigned. There are many copies of the same titles, especially on many Wilbur Smith books where I have a wide range of conditions, thus prices for every level of collecting.  If you would like reading copies of Wilbur Smith books I sell them for £2.75 including UK shipping or a free copy with any WS title purchased for over £80.

Signed first editions are most sought after by serious collectors and the most rare in fine condition, especially the dust jackets. The latter titles published by Macmillan are fairly common and generally only have value if signed. Collectors also buy unsigned books in hopes of having them signed at the next book release. The early Heinemann titles like his very first book; When the Lion Feeds, are increasingly hard to find with more and more collectors, chasing fewer and fewer copies. These earlier Heinemann titles are rarely seen in used book stores anymore, only rare book sites and generally in worn condition.  Prices for finer copies with fine dust jackets are very expensive and rising. This is not always understood by new collectors. The difference in price between a fine dust jacket and just good only can be 10-20 times the price, not merely 10-20%. This is true of modern book collecting in general. Collectors want the dust jackets and books in as close a condition to new as possible.

There is such demand to find the best dust wrappers, collectors buy multiple copies and swap the better books and jackets around, then re-sell the poor copies off. Thus there is widening variance in selling price based on condition variance and especially if period signed (signed at the time of release) or newly signed or bookplate signed. You might say books available are artificially poorer in condition for collectors selling off their swap down dregs. I offer so many different copies of the same title in order that my customers have a choice that fits all budgets. As a rule the first 5 or so books are the most expensive, the last 5 quite cheap, even if signed. Naturally the publishers printed more copies of the later first editions as the author became more world famous.

The main service I provide is to save you time and money trying to find the best condition copies. This is why I have so many books for sale. You can choose the quality you want in accordance with your budget.  I buy and sell everyday with more experience of the best sources and to judge condition for the price paid.  If you search the web you discover finding any copies of the earlier titles is now pretty difficult. I make it easier supplying copies for all budgets, from cheap starter copies to true one-of-a-kind signed books.  The more money you spend, the better the condition and unique the book. There’s no guess work or trial and error, thus you will save money buying from me. It’s that simple. From my own extensive collecting experience, I’m an expert on his signed books and signature. If you have a signed copy and aren’t sure of the authenticity, please email me. I have handled hundreds and hundreds of signed books. Mr. Smith has also kindly signed many books for me.

If you would like to receive a collector’s guide to condition or would like to receive special offers, please email me info@markfaithbooks.com  I also buy first edition books in good condition if you have any spare copies or I can sell your spare copies on this site under consignment. Please ask for more details. Happy collecting!
